Thom's rumblings
“The Unschooling Handbook” (1998) by Mary Griffith

Institutional education as provided by the public schools and universities pretty much leads to programmed humans on their way to a life similar to that found in “Brave New World” (1931). Aldous Huxley wrote his observations and thoughts about the current (1958) world state and compared it to that book in his “Brave New World Revisited”, non-fiction. The concern about the masses being led by marketing from businesses and politics can be avoided with the critical thinking and decision making developed and promoted with unschooling. The description on the back of the “The Unschooling Handbook” ought to make that quite clear.

how much more fitting could a book be, for me…
(Also, keep in mind I’m in Hawaii right now…)

After reading Brave New World (1931) and Brave New World Revisited (1958) by Aldous Huxley, some parts of Pattern Recognition (2003) by William Gibson about manipulatively marketing to the masses, such as with micro-memes, fits in with the happenings on our worldly stage right nicely.
